Haven't you been paying attention??? Just how has Saddam Hussein been involved with any terrorism since Gulf War I? He's been pinned down by U.S.-British military forces all that time, his nuclear program was disamantled by 1994, his chemical and biological weapons programs have barely existed since then, and he's always been an enemy of radical Islamists (ideologically and because of the threat they posed to him). I'm not claiming that Saddam Hussein has ever been anything but pure evil, but Al-Qaeda never worked with him, and no links between the 2 have ever been claimed by the CIA or the nonpartisan press, only by some commentators and politicans. Al-Qaeda was never based in Iraq, as it has been and still is in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Indonesia, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, and Malaysia. And until Gulf War II, Iraq was more free of international terrorists, secular and Islamist, than any nation in the Middle East, save Israel. If the capture of Saddam Hussein causes other Middle East nations to stop supporting terrorists or causes Al-Qaeda to concentrate its forces in Iraq for a final battle with the West, then it may indeed make us safe from terrorist attacks, but otherwise it may endanger us more by giving Al-Qaeda another base of power.
