I was wondering what kind of PCB quality the engineers who are designing
(consumer) products and who are reading this NG are using. I read that FR-2
is the most widely used kind of PCB being used (I can confirm this in my own
experience with consumer electronics). I personally think that the PCB
quality has an enormous iimpact on the quality, reliabillity and durabillity
of a product so I'm using FR-4. In light of the cost of the rest of the
components my guesstimate is that the price differential isn't al that great
between FR-2 and FR-4.
What type of PCB quality are you guys using and for what application? Anyone
know how much difference there is in pricing? And the effect on reliabillity
in using cheaper FR-2 PCB's?
