I just started a job and one of the Sr. engineers told me that I could use
this scope but to leave it on because is broken. I asked why didn't they
just send it to have it repaired ? They tried, but Agilent (I have the
packaging slip) said: "UNIT REQUIRES SYSTEM BOARD PART ABSOLETE/INACTIVE.
WOW, I graduated last years and they just had gotten a bunch of these scopes
for the lab. I thought they were great. Are they really obsolete ?
The problem this unit has is a loss of sync when first turn on. It takes a
few tries to get the HP logo and starts with two messages that read
something like this: Vert and Horz factors failed checksum, defaults loaded.
Is there a way to fix this thing ? The techs tried to replace a RAM chip but
that didn't work I was told. Any suggestions /comments are appreciated.
