How did the OP get on with it?

And I'm struggling with a pal's well water pump. It has
pumped ok for 12 years, but we had to take it out in
order to get a sealing washer replaced. But do you
think we can make it pump again? We've been three days
on it, filling and priming the damned thing, time after
time..... it just will not pump, all it does is just sit
there, churning water.
