In my shop, the worst offender is the 25-watt temp-controlled iron-- it puts
out a healthy steady buzz back into the power line. My older Weller
temp-controlled soldering station had more of a faint "clip-clop" rhythmm,
while the nearby TV stations feed in a baseball-card-in the bicycle spokes
You can look at these as annoyances, or as helpful little free signal
Any circuit that picks up the 25-watt soldering iron buzz needs some work in
the line-ground-loop isolation area. An AM radio that picks up the
clip-clop sound is getting pretty close to normal in the gain department.
A stereo that sounds like my 1965 bicycle needs me to see where I've lost
the bottom shield.
