Yes, well, that's the problem. The open minds of thinking, but
uninformed, people are virgin soil for Luddite manipulation.

It is quite probable that this is correct, except for a very small
number of susceptible people. The related sheep disease, scrapie,
affects individual animals apparently at random. That doesn't seem to be
the case for BSE in cattle, but it may well be true for V-CJD in man.

Well, that was to show his confidence. But that confidence was simply
based on what he was told; he had no knowledge of his own. So his action
*should have been* just as insignificant as if any other non-expert
person had done the same. But, because he was a politician, the Luddites
cite it as if it was a significant reinforcement of their case. It
