Hmm... well, the purpose (for now) is simply to interact with objects on
screen, so scale doesn't matter too much. I can see why size would
matter if you wanted to use this to scan objects, of course, but I'm
thinking of it more for navigation, model manipulation, etc., which is
As for resolution, as I said, this isn't exactly a professional product,
so something like 1 cm^3 resolution would be cool. Heck, 10 cm^3, 50
cm^3 resolution would be cool too...
I'll look at those Polaroid sensors - thanks for the info.
What about sensor options in general? What has a signal which varies
enough (i.e. gets weaker quick enough) to get a good resolution with
cheap sensors? I was even looking at metal detectors since they seem to
have a range about a foot and have a relatively significant variance in
amplitude - then you could just use some hunk of metal as the pointer.
I'm not having a ton of luck getting started with this project with
Google, etc., so your help is greatly appreciated.
