You need to manually move, copy, rename or mark read-only, teh
definitions file, as it will be deleted during uninstall.
For Win9x, it should be in a folder such as "NAVx.x" under the
/%system%/Program Files/ directory.
With NT versions, it is probably located under a path similar to
\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Norton
F:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
The virus definition files are polled each time NAV goes online ("logs
in")) to live update, and the definitions on are compared against
your local definitions anyway, so it's no big deal to have to
download them again after reinstalling NAV.
However, when I was on a dial-up, I did use to save these files,
just to save the extra 5 or 10 minutes it took to get all the old
definitions again. YMMV.
If you do save the dfinition files, don't forget to copy them back
=before= runnung live update for the firts time! :-)
