I've managed to fry my RCM2100 that I was initially developing with,
so progress has halted until the delivery of the 3200 kit, but I'll
answer as I can...
I was using VCLK and VCLKx2 linked up to LLC and LLC2 as well. There's
no mention of LLC/LLC2 not being recommended in the SAA7110A datasheet
that I could find. Perhaps it's a 7115 issue...
I had though of using the SAA7114H/V2 as well (the decoding of SMPTE
VITC timecode would be useful for me) although at that point I'd have to
place some logic (PLD or FPGA probably) between the SAA and the zoran
chip. I couldn't find any reference to not-recommended-for-new-designs
in the 7114 datasheet either though. Where are you getting the
recommendation from ?

Um, I don't have an IDQ signal.
My currently-being-made PCB has a lot of pin-headers on it so I can
change the pin-connections to set it up how I want. Once I'm happy, I'll
make a new PCB with the burnt-in connections on it. Essentially I have
(you'll probably want a monospaced font for this to look ok...)
+-------+ +-------+ +----------+

| Video |///|X|///| Zoran |///|X|///| RCM 3200 |

... where |X| allows me to change the pins around easily, and //// is an
IDC cable between the PCB's. Somewhat overkill perhaps, but I'm sick of
discovering a fatal flaw in the PCB 10 minutes after it's come back from
the makers :-)

I haven't tried it yet, but I didn't see any real problem - although I
was planning on having the 36060 in 8-bit slave-mode all the time anyway.
I think you may be confusing the host interface with the code interface.
When you're in master-mode, ONLY jpeg data comes over the code
interface, and ONLY commands go over the host interface - at least
that's how I read it... There should never be any confusion between
writing config data, and reading/writing jpeg data.

I'm planning on having a networked PC grab the data via a socket within
a second thread, and not store it on the rabbit at all - I may be
grabbing for 3 hours continuously (although only at 1/2 res) so there's
no space to store the data locally.
