Qualitatively its easy to see. Since the signal has not been on since
the dawn of time the signal has been switched on, and therefore it is
not repetitive. Since it is not repetitive, it must be expressed by a
Fourier integral, not a Fourier series. A Fourier integral of a
non-repetitive signal will have a *continuous* frequency spectrum,
therefore its "frequency" is not definable other then by statistical
properties, such as the standard deviation of its frequency spread. It
simple doesn't have a frequency. It has all frequencies.
