Freeman Dyson's (Dyson Sphere) "Anthropic Principle" applies here: If the
Universe is something that tries out every possibility, and only the ones
that work survive, then the reason it only LOOKS like it was "made for us"
is actually more because WE were made for IT, by totally random processes.
Combine randomness and survival, with DNA's capability to enhance that by
evolving to fit the local niche, and it is all explainable as a natural
feature of "wherever we are". Also, it is a perceptual illusion that
intelligent life will always seem to wake up and be here in a place well
suited to it, but it's merely because that's the only place that any kind
of intelligent life CAN form! In other words, wherever intelligent life
wakes up and finds itself, it will be precisely because it survived,
evolved, and because those conditions have been VERY stable where we are
for a VERY long time!: This is the Anthropic Principle, and perfectly
answers fatuous creationists and the assinine penchant for making claims
for God's "wisdom" in "putting us here". We were indeed "put" here, but
by the normal processes of chance and evolution did it just fine, thanks!
As for planetary formation, it only LOOKS ideal to us because we were
selected by this place and evolved precisely TO it. Another species would
surely think that all this ice and horribly corrosive oxygen would be a
terrible place for life to evolve, and they would die of exposure at
anywhere NEAR freezing and be burned alive by our atmosphere. To them the
color scheme would even look toxic and ugly!
