Adrian you do not say what sort of LCD display you want, Character,
Monochrome Graphic, or Colour Graphic, or what resolution the display
might be, ie 16 x 2 lines, 40 x 4 lines, 256 x 128 pixels, or 1280 x
1024 full colour.
If you are only looking for character displays you could buy a cheap one
and perhaps program it yourself via a PC. On the presentation you might
hide the PC and have it send different messages to the display.
Either of the graphics options is much harder, and much more expensive.
Cost goes up with screen resolution, and colour, for a one off is very
expensive, unless you can go to somewhere like EARTH.com? and find a
pre-programmed solution inn your budget range. I have a couple of old
systems with 256 x 128 monochrome graphics lying around. They have EL
backlight and software adjustable contrast, and preprogrammed start up
graphic screens, but have nothing colour.
