I don't support a 'heap of pressure'. But I don't support inducing a
Pollyanna attitude in children, either.

H'mm. I suppose it's like advertising; only 20% is useful, but no-one
knows which 20%. You don't know till after you've failed whether it
matters or not, so for prudence, try not to fail.

But real life often does ask more of you. My point is that 'Failure
doesn't matter' is seriously misleading. 'Failing matters, but don't let
failure throw you; learn from it and resolve to do better next time.' is
a more promising advice.
For example, you may think you can 'do your best' without asking for
help or doing any research. But you would be wise to seek and accept all
the help you can get, then your 'best' will be better. It's so
fantastically easier these days to get help than it was when I were a
