I've never been able to get a clear definition of what exactly a
"Segway" is, but I presume it's some kind of electric scooter.
One of my cow-orkers[sic] brought a little electric scooter into
the shop the other day - said it's got a 9-mile range, and will
go 9 mph. Beats the F out of walking, I'd say! And they were
like US$129.95!!! So I finally accumulated a hundred and twenty
bucks, and asked the guy, "Where did you get it? I want one!"
He said, "They're all sold out." A couple of days later, another
cow-orker beckoned me over to another part of the shop, and there
were no less than SIX of these $129.95 scooters just sitting there.
The ones that were 'sold out.' Apparently they're Xmas presents
for all of his sprog. F'ing dork.
So, now, I'm investigating motorizing my bicycle (a car would
be nice, but getting one for $10.00/week seems remote), and
am accumulating suggestions - another cow-orker claims somebody
is selling or _giving away_ a little IC motor like from a lawn
blower. I know, that has nothing to do with electronics,
albeit I could ask about LED headlights and taillights and
that sort of thing. Maybe a little emergency transmitter with
a deadman switch for when some garbage truck runs over me.
But five thousand bucks for a f'ing scooter? YGBSM!
