I don't actually know ;-) I took a load of Scroggie's ref's down to the
local library and Boston Spa library came through with copies of all the
reference material (marvellous!).
Scroggie's 1961 (seventh edition) Radio lab handbook page 68 is where I
think the ref came from. Either ...
E.&R.E. July 1957 p.272 or ...
E.&R.E. Nov 1958 Mayo and Head or ...
Proc. I.R.E Aug 1951 F.S.Anderson (this sounds the most probable)
