We used to remove the traps....it's an easy process, even if you have
to climb a ladder to do so.
The input end is internally keyed, it takes a special spanner wrench
to remove the input connector. Instead of dubbing with the wrench or
special tool, use about half a drop of super glue in the area where
the tool goes...it will lock up the filter assy (instead of allowing
it to spin freely).
Once the mechanical link between the input connector and the housing
of the filter has been established, you simply turn the filter housing
until the connector comes off in your hand.
You can put in a barrel connector OR you can easily modify the the
filter assy for straight through operation and return the modified
filter to it's original resting place.....meaning that it will not be
detected IF the cable company does a physical audit.
This is all highly illegal, consult your local authorities regarding
civil and criminal penalties before proceeding.
It's usually better to pay for the service. The modifications we did
years ago lasted for years and for several 'audits' ...until the cable
company upgraded and installed boxes that electronically limit the
chanells that could be viewed.
