|Yes, that 's why we have laws against it. I had nearly 500 abusive calls
|from a gang of telemarketers, just because I said I couldn't AFFORD to
|take up their special offer. I had to get the police involved.
Many years ago I was working in my office with my wife. A
telemarketing call came in for my wife from (IIRC) House and Garden
Magazine. I asked my wife if she wanted to take the call, she said
"no", so I told the caller "no" and hung up.
I then turned on my answering machine and we went out to dinner.
When we came back from the dinner we discovered that the telemarketer
had called back, was offended by being hung up on, and left a 15
minute cussing rant on the answering machine.
I called the police (Scottsdale) who came out, took a report, and also
took the tape.
A few days later I received a call from the Chicago police department
asking if I wanted to prosecute. They told me the gal had been
canned, so I said that was probably sufficient and let it go.
Now-a-days I'm less polite. I answer with "dumb shit" or whatever
good word strikes me, and then hang up ;-)
