Thanks for the info. It would be difficult to do a trial run in Ottawa.
With the vacancy rate at 0.3%, and 200 people applying for a new listing,
no landlord would give it a second thought. You have to do the best you
can on a 5 minute walkthrough and hope for the best. Every place I've
seen here has mold. It's a matter of how much, and if there's any
possibility of sealing the rooms well enough to minimize the problem.
This is largely a trial and error process.
As far as I can tell, there is no way to detect spores in real time. I've
tried modifying smoke detectors but the initial results were poor.
If any genius in the group can come up with a method of detecting spores
and the toxic gas given off by mold and fungus in real time, there is a
large and growing market.
