Yes, again I've some more questions about HF stuff.
I'm really a newbie and I need it to get my Ion-trap running.
That means: RF or HF is not my business.
Who is involved in mass spectrometry knows what ion traps are doing.
They are catching Ions. To catch a ion you need a electrical alternating
field to hold the ion on a certain position in a vacuum tube
( very simple).
My problems is to generate the signal. I need a sinusoidal signal
with a amplitude of 300V. The frequency is is around 2-3 MHz.
All what I know about the vacuum tube is that the capacity is around
25 - 30pF.
First. I tried it with my waveform generator and a transformer.
Stupid!! I know....
Because the waveform generator has only a 50 Ohm Output, so it
can't provide sufficient power to the ion-trap.
My next step : I got a RF(HF)- Push-Pull Amplifier from a friend of mine.
It it operating at +/- 15V DC. But again I don't know what I have to do
between the amplifier and the connection to the vacuum tube.
Assuming that the amplifier is doing good work, what do I've to connect
to the center tap of the HF-Amplifier.
I read about matching networks, transformers etc. But........
It's not my business..
I did it in that way:
Assuming that the amplifier has a output of +/- 12V at full operration I
must have a transformer with a turn ratio of 1/25. Right???
But what about the impedance?? I don't really understand the problem.
For my it was only a side issue at the beginning but now....
hopefully you can help me, teach me or just give me a advice.
