I want to build a smart NiCd / NiMH battery charger or hack a surplus cell phone charge, coodless tool or other smart charger (because they are cheap ) to charge 4.8v , 6.0 , and 9.6 battery packs . The battery charger controller ICs I have found so far are the Maxim 712 / 713 and the TI / Benchmarq B2004 . As far as hacking a surplus charger I am really lost on where to look (mainly because of lack of specs ) . Some help on this is appreciated .
