Man. I don't feel like reading the 60 new posts to this thread,
so I'm just gonna say it here.
1. Dump *all* mail that wasn't sent to you. If To: doesn't contain
either your user name (e.g. Tim Williams) or e-mail (e.g.
tmoranwms@charter.net), it goes to the bin. This kills 90% of all spam.
2. Foregin spam can be dumped by filtering "illegal" characters such as
ܰ·§³µÆ, etc. (Those particulars may or may not work, take a look at
your spam to find the common characters.)
Throw a few in the filter, and watch 99% of your Korean/Chinese/Tiwanese
spam *disappear*.
3. Scams can be eliminated with common words/phrases such as "READ THIS
EMAIL TO THE END!!!!!". Mind certain words, mortgage for instance,
because you never know, you might talk to someone important about such
things.
The above drops 99% of all spam, which for me leaves just two or three
in my inbox a day, no problem for sorting by hand.
