Most manufacturers of industrial motion control or stepper motor
electronics will also carry drivers with optical encoder feedback. The
TMCM-100 by Trinamic (www.trinamic.com) is an example. The problem with
managing a stepper motor with optical encoding (which is only necessary if
there's the risk of the moetr losing steps) is predominantly on the
software side, so a schematic won't be of much help.
