1972 was the year of the first of the two so-called "500-year floods"
that have occurred while I've lived in Arizona.
I remember the floods of 1972 because we recovered a fish that swam up
into our driveway and kept it in a tank for a few days before it died.
It was a fish from the irrigation canal about a quarter mile away.
