Margret Thatcher stopped being prime minister around 1991 and was actually
female - I knew New Zealand was provincial, but this was more than ten years
ago. The current prime minister is a perfectly ordinary lawyer-turned
politician, but he tolerates his Chancellor of the Exchequer, who isn't
exactly on the same political wavelength.
And which particular personal liberty do you think that the U.K. population
is actively missing? The right to bear arms?
If John Woodgate is anything to go by, what they'd really like to be able to
do is to drive a few kph over the posted speed limit and not get fined - not
exactly fertile ground for revolution.

Only for certain specific groups - you had to have been consigned to a
concentration camp to earn the tattoo.

They haven't started. They call it a constitutional monarchy, despite the
fact that the country hasn't got a written constitution.
Even for a right-wing nutter, you seem curiously under-informed. Have you
been outside New Zealand yet?
I know Australia is a long way away, and rather too like New Zealand for
comfort, but it would be a start.

is hope for you yet, Barry)
