** I never met an "administrator" who was NOT autistic - it is a
classic job for them and they often turn into unbearable control freaks
since they are so inept at the job.
My EE friend was a bit more specific - he said at a guess 80% of
engineers ( he met at the Uni ) were unable to deal with people issues face
to face well - he put his down to them being somewhat autistic. He
described the main issue for him was not being able to "get" what people
meant instantly as they spoke. He said he often had to go away and dwell in
order to do so - but he is judging himself so beware - he might never "get
it" at all.
The "bosses" were part of the remaining 20 % and by implication and
they could deal with such things well - in his opinion. It was a job he
did want as he felt very uncomfortable doing it. He had a stint as a high
school maths teacher once - which was a disaster.
My friend (who has an ME ) is a very competant engineer in his
speciality which is SMPS design and also AC motor drives - he has bag of
patents on these gadgets - all worthless !
I am NOT happy to accept the judgements of a self admitted autistic one
bit - though what he said was at least consistant with my experience.
