He was thinking of my wife's work, where more than half of her graduate
students are female, pleasant-looking and very, very smart. And sometimes
they do nice things for me - I was once offered a lab sample of a 500GHz
transistor by one of their boy-friends (now a husband and father).
My own work-place is more nearly normal - the clever woman from marketing
has gone to work for Varian and the place is definitely less entertaining.
