An Omaha Fire Division Captain was convicted and sentenced to federal prison for what authorities claim was the distribution of around fifty pounds of cocaine in the Omaha, Nebraska area over a several year period. In a plea agreement with federal prosecutors, Omaha Fire Captain named Johnson, a typical hero in the Omaha Fire Division, agreed to provide the details of his suppliers and distributors in the cocaine operation which brought cocaine from Florida, where it had been imported from Columbia, to the Omaha area. In exchange for his cooperation which included identifying his fellow Omaha Fire Division fire fighters involved in the conspiracy, prosecutors dropped much of the indictment against Johnson and he plead guilty to one count. Johnson was then sentenced to several years of protective custody (for sissies) in federal prison. But not to be without remedy for their cocaine dealing criminal fire fighter, the city of Omaha granted Johnson a disability pension prior to his reporting for his sentencing but after his conviction on the drug trafficking charges. Apparently, Johnson saw an opportunity to scam the Omaha disability system and claimed following his conviction, when he knew he was no longer a fire fighter and could never again be one, claimed of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from fire fighting related activities. The Omaha City Employee Pension Board, again, not wanting to abandon their drug trafficking hero and fellow coconspirator, granted Johnson a partial disability pension in the short time between Johnson's conviction for operating one of the largest cocaine trafficking conspiracies in the Omaha are and his sentence for the crime. The "Good Old Boys" of Omaha, NE fire and police work apparently are proud and respectful of their narcotics trafficking fire Captain. Proud enough to arrange a partial disability pension for the convicted criminal despite Johnson's request and sudden illness developing after his conviction. Johnson served his time in federal prison as an informant, and was released. All the while, Johnson drew a weekly tax free disability pay check from the city of Omaha tax payers of somewhere around $500 a week. But Johnson was not yet finished with he and his supporters at the Omaha Fire Union's scam on the tax payers of Omaha, Nebraska. Within the last several months, Johnson, who will draw his partial disability pension for life, has requested from the city that his pension be increased to a full disability pension to increase his tax free pension to over $5,000 a month. As yet, the city of Omaha, whose "Good Old Boy" network has since changed hands to the next generation, has yet to decide on the matter. But at least one Omaha City Councilman, a retired Omaha Police Officer, claims privately that he can see the point when wanting to not only deny the increased pension request from Johnson, but have the original pension decision overturned. After all, disgraced Omaha Fire Captain Johnson is being pensioned for life on a disability directly related to his narcotics trafficking and abuse, not his service as a fire fighter. But don't expect Omaha, Nebraska to investigate the matter. They still consider fire fighters and police officers to be brothers and the "Good Old Boy" network is alive and well. This matter, every bit of it, needs to be handled outside the city of Omaha and possibly even the state of Nebraska, by federal authorities. They were the ones who refused to look the other way and brought Johnson and his Omaha Fire Union's cocaine trafficking activities to an end. Albeit, a temporary one.
