Understands and uses the scales, field of view, gain, voltage, amps and other adjustments and factors on the equipment in order to produce high quality images. 2. Positions patients for views directed by radiologist or uses good judgement to do the same. 3. Understands anatomy so as to direct the beam (or appropriate imaging source) in the most effective manner. 4. Completes required exams in appropriate times. 5. Monitors patient’s well being during scan; recognizes patient discomfort or medical problems and takes appropriate action. Quality Control 1. Assures proper film identification by use of appropriate markers. 2. ID’s image with proper patient information. 3. Uses good judgement regarding image quality; determines when repeats are necessary. 4. Checks paperwork, film jackets and patient charges for accuracy and completeness prior to submission. 5. Follows correct procedure regarding warm-up, use and shutdown of equipment. 6. Reports equipment anomalies to appropriate person in a timely fashion. 7. Participates in QC program as directed. 8. Performs routine maintenance and ensures cleanliness of equipment and rooms on daily basis. Safety 1. Uses collimation to restrict beam to region of interest. (where applicable) 2. Inquires about menstrual status and possibility of pregnancy; documents such. 3. Shields all patients whenever possible. 4. Wears film badge (if appropriate) at all times; stores in office and replaces each month. 5. Minimizes exposure to ionizing radiation for both patient and self. 6. Adheres to all OSHA reulations, RGX practices and generally accepted safety protocols. Experience: An appropriate license, registrations, and an educational degree for the modality in which individual specializes; state regulations may vary.
