"What NATO says it will do about terrorism"
The Alliance is looking to become more effective in combating the threat of
terrorism that is now in the Euro-Atlantic Community. The Alliance's plate
is full for the Prague Summit in November. In Prague fighting terrorism
will, along with inviting new members, be a pressing issue. It appears that
revamping military commands, concern for weapons of mass destruction and the
Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council are key points. Taken from mainly speeches
and press releases from the NATO SG Lord Robertson and the Alliance itself.
Some things the Alliance states it will do to meet the threat of terrorism -
1. Quicker, more mobile forces.
2. Weapons of mass destruction and proliferation
3. Closer interaction between military and civilian.
4. Euro-Atlantic unity, the EAPC and the relationship with Russia.
We need NATO now more than ever to fight terrorism. Terrorism threatens
Western civilization, not just America.
As Marc Grossman points out in his piece "New Capabilities, New Members, New
