I'm not an attorney, but I think making even joking threats about specific
buildings and structures is Not A Good Thing, especially not in today's
There is also a saying in chess that the threat can be stronger than the
execution, e.g. by causing panic, causing people to stay away from work, and
so on. Maybe this should indeed be reported. In fact, I will forward it to
the abuse reporting address at Google Groups just in case.

Maybe not, if he's posting from Google Groups. (I looked at the post's full
headers.) I seem to recall that Osama bin Laden had a Hotmail account.

Some guy posted something along the lines of "Boom!" "Boom!" "Boom!" in
soc.culture.israel last September, before the attacks. I was going to
forward his posts to the FBI, but they contained references to pizza (as in
blowing up pizza parlors in Israel), so I assumed it wasn't relevent to
September 11. If he had written "Boom!" four times instead of three, and
made references to the U.S., I would indeed have forwarded his writings to
the FBI, because that would have suggested at least a chance that he knew
what had been planned.

I'm not an attorney, but terroristic threats also may violate U.S. laws,
especially since they mention specific buildings and structures. On the
other hand, I'm sure the Feds are protecting things like the Sears Tower and
Brooklyn Bridge quite well, as these are obvious targets.
